Bar-headed Goose
Anser indicus


Habitat: Large lakes, rivers and adjoining farmland.
Size: Larger than domestic duck.
Distribution: Widespread winter visitor to the northern plains; locally also in southern India.
Identification: Easily distinguished from the Greylag goose (A. anser) by a black-banded white head, white line down the neck and yellow beak as opposed to a prominent pink beak in the Greylag.
