Green Sandpiper
Tringa ochropus

Habitat: Favours small waters such as small rivers, village pools, marshes, rice fields, etc. Usually found near cover; rare in costal habitats.
Size: Larger than a quail.
Distribution: Widespread during winter; Common in the north, less so in the south.
Identification: Make note of the shorter greenish legs and stockier appearance, darker and less heavily spotted upperparts to distinguish it from the Wood Sandpiper (Tringa glareola).
