Northern Shoveler

Habitat: Shallow fresh waters like lakes, large irrigation canals, reservoirs, slow rivers.
Size: Smaller than domestic duck.
Distribution: Common winter visitor  throughout the region.
Identification: The broad shovel-like bill makes this species unmistakeable. Females which look similar to female Mallard's (Anas platyrhynchos), but again the Shovelor’s bill is distinctive.
