Red-breasted / Red–throated Flycatcher
Ficedula parva / Ficedula albicilla

Habitat: Open forest, forest edge, orchards, plantations, gardens.
Size: Smaller than a sparrow.
Distribution: Widespread and common winter visitor to most parts of the country.
Identification: Ficedula parva and Ficedula albicilla are sometimes treated as separate species. To differentiate between them, note that F. albicilla has a grey breast-band and a much darker tail. The base of the lower mandible is pale yellow in F. parva, while it is completely dark in F. albicilla. The trrrt…trrrt… call of F. parva is frequently interspersed with a sharp electric spark-like tick note, which is absent in F. albicilla's vocalization. Female of both these can be confused with the female of the Kashmir (Ficedula subrubra); the Kashmir, however, has more pronounced rufous on the throat and breast
.
