Each winter, millions of birds belonging to hundreds of species migrate into India from latitudes further north. When do these birds come and how do they spread across the country? As the global climate changes, is the timing of migration changing too? Information is scarce and your help is needed to answer these questions.

In MigrantWatch, volunteers across the country note the dates of arrival and presence of migratory birds. No special travel or effort is required; volunteers simply note when and where they see migrant species. This simple activity, multiplied across many observers yields new and important information about bird migration in India. Summaries of first sighting data collected through MigrantWatch are available for 2007 and 2008 (pdf)

Join more than 1,000 participants, distributed across India, in this Citizen Science project to understand how migrating birds respond to changes in the Earth's climate!
