Singh.<\/p>\n<p><em>Please describe a memorable <\/em><em><\/em><em>birding experience.<\/em><em><\/em><br \/>\nI was at Sanjay Van, a forest area in Delhi on 11 June<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1163\" style=\"border: 1px solid black; margin: 5px;\" title=\"Udi_cuckoo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.migrantwatch.in\/mwblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/Udi_cuckoo2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"170\" height=\"210\" \/> 2009 and was  waiting for a photographer who was to take my photo. When\u00a0he\u00a0arrived, i  took him to a scrub area where the light was good. The Photographer  (Tashi) told me to pose by looking at a nearby Acacia and pointing at  it.<br \/>\nWhether it was luck or destiny, I&#8217;m not sure but on that tree&#8230;at  the exact place I was pointing a Pied Cuckoo flew in and perched! Soon  it was joined by another Pied Cuckoo. Tashi took some pics of the birds  as a third Cuckoo arrived on the spot. It was a lifer for me and also  the first sighting of the Pied Cuckoo in Delhi that Monsoon.\u00a0Definitely  something I&#8217;ll\u00a0remember for some time.<\/p>\n<p><em>What are your favourite migrants?<\/em><br \/>\nMy favourite winter migrants are:<br \/>\nGrey-headed Canary Flycatchers<br \/>\nRed-throated Flycatchers<br \/>\nBlack Redstart<br \/>\nCommon Chiffchaff<br \/>\nRuddy Shelduck<br \/>\nAshy Drongo<a href=\"https:\/\/www.migrantwatch.in\/mwblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/udiyaman-piedcuckoo2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-775\" style=\"border: 1px solid black; margin: 5px;\" title=\"udiyaman-piedcuckoo2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.migrantwatch.in\/mwblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/udiyaman-piedcuckoo2-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"udiyaman-piedcuckoo2\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nMy favourite summer migrants are the Blue-cheeked and Blue-tailed Bee-eaters.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8211; What is your favourite place to watch migrants?<\/em><br \/>\nMy favourite birding spots\u00a0for migrants\u00a0are Sanjay Van, Okhla Bird Park, Sultanpur Bird Santuary and Lodi Gardens in Delhi.<\/p>\n<p><em>Do you have any advice for beginning birdwatchers and naturalists?<\/em><br \/>\nI myself am something of a beginner so I don\u2019t have much advice on that<\/p>\n<p><em>Why do you think people should care about birds and nature?<\/em><br \/>\nI feel that\u00a0people should care about birds as they are an integral part of our ecosystem and add colour to our lives.<\/p>\n<p>Indian Express carried an article about Udiyaman titled \u2018<a href=\"http:\/\/www.indianexpress.com\/news\/bird-boy\/476170\/\">Bird Boy<\/a>\u2019 in June 2009.<\/p>\n<p>You can write to Udiyaman at udishukla@gmail.com.
